Security Risk Education
Why is a controversy a security risk?
If you have been involved in a controversy — whether highly publicized or not — threat actors can use that information for extortion and blackmail. Even if it is based on truth or rumor, sensitive information can be made public rapidly if an adversary does not receive what they are seeking — or simply as a malicious act without any financial motivation.
